Maliki’s bloc member says fresh mechanism to activate quadruple alliance needed

BAGHDAD /Iraqi News A leading member of Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki’s Dawlat al-Qanoon (State of Law) bloc said on Thursday that a new mechanism is badly needed to activate the quadruple alliance if proposed within the new government lineup negotiations. “The Islamic Dawa Party, the Supreme Islamic Iraqi Council (SIIC) and the two main Kurdish parties need to effectuate their alliance,” Ali al-Allaq told Iraqi News. “So far no decision has been taken regarding the activation of this alliance save sheer ideas and visions discussed in the political channels,” Allaq added. He noted that the options are many. “We’re part of the Dawlat al-Qanoon bloc. We can’t give up on our allies and our allies, on their part, should not think we’ve become part of another alliance,” he said. AmR (P) 2
