Maliki ahead in Baghdad, Allawi comes second

BAGHDAD /Iraqi News The leader of the State of Law Coalition, Premier Nouri al-Maliki, has obtained the largest number of votes in Baghdad, while his competitor, Ayad Allawi, came second, according to early poll results announced by the Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC). “Maliki garnered 460,000 votes; while the leader of the Iraqiya List, Iyad Allawi, won 286,000 votes…,” according to an IHEC report received by Iraqi News.
