Maliki’s bloc ahead of Allawi’s in Baghdad after 86% of results announced

BAGHDAD /Iraqi News Nouri al-Maliki’s Dawlat al-Qanoon (State of Law) led in Baghdad after the 86.62% of the results of Iraq’s legislative elections were announced on Thursday, followed by Iyad Allawi’s al-Iraqiya bloc and the National Iraqi Alliance (NIA). “Dawlat al-Qanoon garnered 755.088 votes, al-Iraqiya 682.568 votes, the NIA 471.063, the Iraqi Accordance list 43,388, the Iraq Unity coalition 26,628, the People’s Union 16.617 votes, the Kurdistan Alliance 17.740 and the Ahrar bloc 11.267 votes in Baghdad,” according to the data published by the Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC) on its web site.
