IHEC asserts preliminary results to be announced Friday evening

BAGHDAD /Iraqi News The preliminary results of the parliamentary elections will be announced at 7:00pm on Friday, according to the head of the Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC). “The vote count centers still working and the 100% of the preliminary results will be announced at 7:00pm,” Hamdiya al-Husseini told Iraqi News. The IHEC chief, Faraj al-Haydari, had set Friday evening as a date for announcing the final results of the 2010 legislative elections, the second ever in the war-torn Iraq since the 2003 U.S.-led invasion. Iraqi President Jalal Talabani and Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki had asked for having the votes re-counted manually. SH (P) 1
