U.S. forces train 110 Iraqi commandos in 3 southern provinces

THI-QAR /Iraqi News U.S. forces in southern Iraq started on Tuesday a program to train 110 Iraqi commandos from the three provinces of Thi-Qar, al-Muthanna, and Missan. The program aims at preparing those commandos to deal with emergencies that may arise during Iraq’s upcoming parliamentary election on March 7, 2010. “The Iraqi army and police will be responsible for the Election Day security plan,” U.S. forces’ spokesperson told Iraqi News. He said that U.S. forces will support Iraqi troops in case the Iraqi partner asks for help. MH (P)/SR 1
