Suspected al-Qaeda gunman killed near Salah el-Din

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: A suspected al-Qaeda gunman was killed on Monday in a region in northeast of Salah el-Din, the U.S. army said. “Iraqi Security Forces (ISF) killed a suspected AQI criminal during a joint security operation conducted approximately 100 km northeast of Tikrit,” the army said in a statement received by IraqiNews.com news agency. “ISF and U.S. advisors conducted a vehicle interdiction to arrest a suspected AQI member who is allegedly responsible for the facilitation of vehicle-borne improvised explosive devices targeting civilians within Kirkuk,” it added. “As the security team approached the warranted individual’s vehicle, he drew a pistol and ISF engaged the assailant in self-defense, killing him. No ISF were injured in the engagement.” SH (P) 4
