5 civilians wounded in IED blast in Saadiya

DIALA / IraqiNews.com: Five civilians were wounded in an improvised explosive device (IED) blast in eastern Baaquba city on Saturday, a local security source in Diala said. “An IED went off near a civilian vehicle on Saturday (June 5) in the village of al-Taakhi, central Saadiya, Khanaqin district, (155 km) east of Baaquba,” the source told IraqiNews.com news agency. Khanaqin is one of the areas subject to dispute between the central government in Baghdad and the semi-autonomous Iraqi Kurdistan region’s government. “The explosion left five civilians injured,” the source added. Earlier on Saturday, an IED went off in al-Muqdadiya district near an Iraqi army vehicle, leaving two soldiers wounded. Baaquba, the capital city of the restive province of Diala, lies 57 km northeast of Baghdad. AmR (P) 2
