 Iraqi President discusses bilateral ties with U.S. Ambassador

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The new Iraqi president, Abdul Latif Rashid, discussed on Tuesday the bilateral relations between Iraq and the United States with the US Ambassador to Iraq, Alina Romanowski, according to a press statement issued by the Iraqi Presidency.

The statement explained that Rashid received Romanowski in Al-Salam Palace in Baghdad where both talked about the importance of strengthening the bilateral relations in areas of common interest.

Romanowski congratulated Rashid for being elected as President of the Republic of Iraq and wished him success, according to the statement.

Romanowski stressed her country’s commitment to support the security and stability of Iraq and the safety of the Iraqi citizens, the statement mentioned.

Both sides discussed strengthening the bilateral ties in a way that enhances cooperation and coordination in political, economic and cultural fields, and in a manner that serves the common interests of the people of both countries, the statement added.

Following her meeting with the Iraqi President, Romanowski met with the Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament, Muhammad Al-Halbousi, and discussed the political developments in the country, and the ongoing steps to complete the formation of a new government, according to a statement issued by the press office of the Parliament Speaker.
