 Saudi Defense Minister discusses developing defense with Iraq

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Saudi Minister of Defense, Khalid bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, discussed cooperation development in the defense field with the Iraqi Minister of Defense, Thabet Muhammad Al-Abbasi, according to the Iraqi Defense Ministry’s statement cited by the state news agency.

The statement mentioned that Al-Abbasi received a phone call from his Saudi counterpart in which Abdulaziz congratulated him for being chosen as the new Defense Minister, and highlighted the depth of the bilateral relations between Saudi Arabia and Iraq, as well as the continuous efforts to develop these relations in a way that serves the interests of both countries.  

Al-Abbasi confirmed that the Iraqi government values the great development the relationship between the two countries witnessed, according to the statement.

Abdulaziz, in a statement via Twitter, stated that he reviewed with his Iraqi counterpart the bilateral relations between both countries, and discussed ways to support and strengthen the cooperation and coordination in the defense field.

The new Iraqi government headed by Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani won the confidence of the Iraqi Parliament in the session held on October 27.

Al-Sudani pledged to be open to all political forces, whether or not they participated in the formation of the cabinet.
