Talabani meets U.S. commander

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Iraqi President Jalal Talabani on Sunday met with U.S. Deputy Commander for Training & Logistics Affairs General Michael Barbero and discussed the recent security developments in Iraq, according a presidential release. “Talabani received at his residence in the Kurdish city of Sulaimaniya General Barbero and discussed the recent annihilation of some top leaders in the terrorist Al-Qaeda in Iraq (AQI) network at the hands of Iraqi forces, which the two sides termed as great victory,” read the release as received by IraqiNews.com news agency. The release quoted Barbero as saying that the United States would continue training Iraqi armed forces and rebuilding military infrastructure of these forces so that they can fulfill their tasks of maintaining security and stability.
