Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Iraqi Prime Minister, Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani, directed on Saturday to honor members of the Arab and International Police Directorate in the Ministry of Interior for bringing back Saddam Hussein’s nephew from Lebanon, according to a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s press office.

The statement elaborated that Saddam Hussein’s nephew, Abdullah Yasser Sabawi Al-Nasiri, was received from the Lebanese authorities in an operation where several Iraqi agencies cooperated to have him tried by the Iraqi judiciary.

Al-Nasiri’s recovery operation was carried by members belonging to the Ministry of Interior, the Iraqi National Intelligence Service(INIS) and the Iraqi embassy in Lebanon, the statement mentioned.

The Iraqi authorities accuse Al-Nasiri of participating in the massacre of the Speicher base in 2014.

According to the United Nations, ISIS fighters captured and murdered at least 1,500 Iraqi Shia Air Force cadets outside Tikrit Air Academy, formerly known as Camp Speicher, on June 12, 2014.
