Al-Sadr calls to protest against Israeli attack on Gaza aid convoy

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Shiite cleric Muqtada al-Sadr on Monday called on his followers to stage a demonstration to condemn the “Israeli crime” against the Gaza aid convoy, according to the official spokesman of the Sadrist bloc. “The Sadrist bloc will organize a protest with the participation of thousands of Sadrists against the Israeli aggression on the ships carrying humanitarian aid to Gazans,” Salah al-Ubeidi told IraqiNews.com news agency. “The demonstration will start at 5:00 p.m. near the Babel hotel in al-Karada in central Baghdad,” he added. Early this morning, Israeli soldiers stormed a flotilla of ships carrying aid intended for Palestinians in Gaza, leaving at least 15 people dead in the resulting violence. SH (P)/SR 1
