Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Iraqi Minister of Foreign Affairs, Fuad Hussein, met on Sunday with the Chinese Ambassador to Iraq, Cui Wei, where they discussed ways to strengthen the relations, and prospects to develop the bilateral cooperation to benefit the people of both countries, according to a press statement issued by the Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Fuad stressed that Iraq is interested in strengthening the cooperation with Beijing at all levels, and that China is an important country for the Iraqi oil market, noting the need to increase the volume of investments in the fields of energy and infrastructure, the statement mentioned.

Fuad and Wei discussed regional issues of common interest, the developments in the Middle East, Iraq’s vision for solutions, and way to end the crises affecting the region.

The two officials addressed the Arab-Chinese summit that will be held in Saudi Arabia, and the preparation for this summit, stressing that Iraq will participate in the summit.

According to the Arab League’s Assistant Secretary-General, Khalil Al-Thawadi, the first Arab-Chinese summit that will be hosted by Saudi Arabia in December represents a milestone in the strategic partnership between Arab countries and China, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.

Al-Thawadi stated last September that he values the efforts made by Chinese diplomacy to support Arab concerns and find peaceful solutions to the existing crises in the region, stressing the league’s keenness to strengthen its wide-ranging relations with China, the SPA mentioned.
