Islamist snipes US soldier in Tikrit

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: The so-called Jaish Rijal il-Tareeqa al-Naqshabandiya Islamist armed group announced on Wednesday that one of its snipers killed a U.S. soldier in Tikrit city, northern Baghdad. “The soldier died instantaneously,” the group said in a release posted online. The same Web site that posted the announcement uploaded a tape online that shows the killing of the soldier. With the death of this soldier, the toll of U.S. casualties in Iraq since the beginning of operations in March 2003 has reached 4,417. Forty-seven of them fell in 2010. MH (P)/SR 2
