Basra Gov’r admits casualties among demonstrators

BASRA / IraqiNews.com: One civilian was killed and two others were wounded in a demonstration today in Basra city, the Basra governor said on Saturday. “The demonstrators were protesting lack of electricity,” Gov. Shaltagh Abbood said in a press conference in Basra attended by IraqiNews.com news agency. Earlier, police forces in Basra opened fire targeting hundreds of demonstrators in central the city protesting lack of electricity. “Police random fires left a number of casualties,” an eyewitness told IraqiNews.com news agency.
