Kurdistan resorts attract tourists during snow season
Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – Iraqi tourists are increasingly visiting mountain resorts in the Kurdistan region in northern Iraq with the beginning of the snow season, while the tourism sector is benefiting from the influx of visitors.
More than 200 thousand tourists from different Iraqi governorates visited the region’s tourist sites during the first week of the new year.
With the onset of the snow season, where the snow covers mountain peaks, the growing winter tourism is flourishing in the Kurdistan region.
Resorts and tourist sites became a destination for thousands of Iraqi tourists coming from all the country’s governorates, to enjoy the uncommon snow scene in their governorates.
“Tourism is not only snow, natural scenes nor museums, but there is a societal cohesion between Iraqis, as tourism teaches openness to the other,” one of the tourists in Kurdistan told Sky News Arabia.
While the temperature drops below zero degrees Celsius, tourists enjoy snowballing and what the nature offers at this time of the year.
“The atmosphere is very beautiful here. I visited many resorts outside Iraq, and I find that the tourist sites here have everything the tourist needs. We are proud of our country,” a tourist from Baghdad told Sky News Arabia.
Offers and facilities provided by the Directorate of Tourism in Kurdistan attract more tourists, especially during the weekends.
Iraqi tourists unanimously agree that the atmosphere in one of the resorts of Erbil is ideal, especially in the snow season.
