Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Iraqi Prime Minister, Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani, left Baghdad on Thursday heading to Germany on a two-day visit, according to a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s press office.

The statement explained that the visit in which Al-Sudani is accompanied by a high-level government delegation is a response to the official invitation of German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, and as part of the distinguished relationship between the two countries.

The statement also mentioned that the visit will include meetings with senior officials in Germany and with German companies.

In a statement before he leaves Baghdad, Al-Sudani confirmed that his visit to Germany is different from previous visits of Iraqi officials because it includes a joint work plan between the two countries, memorandums of understanding that will be implemented immediately, and preliminary agreements that will be completed.

The visit will include signing a memorandum of understanding representing a promising plan for developing the electricity sector in Iraq in cooperation with Siemens, investment opportunities related to associated gas, and opportunities in the petrochemical sector, Al-Sudani explained.

The Iraqi Prime Minister is expected to discuss initiatives and programs related to human resources, vocational training, higher education, as well as financial and banking cooperation, the Iraqi News Agency (INA) reported.
