Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – Iraq’s Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani and Brett McGurk, Deputy Assistant to the President of the United States and Middle East and North Africa Coordinator, met today in Baghdad, Iraq.

Amos Hochstein, the Special US Presidential Coordinator for Global Infrastructure and Energy Security, and Alina Romanowski, the US Ambassador to Iraq, were also in attendance in the meeting.

According to a statement provided by the U.S. Embassy, the U.S. delegation reaffirmed President Biden’s commitment to the Strategic Framework Agreement during the meeting, placing a special emphasis on coordination and initiatives to support the Iraqi government’s reforms in the fields of energy, infrastructure, and climate that will benefit the Iraqi people.

McGurk reaffirmed the U.S. commitment to support Iraqi forces in their battle against ISIS and to prevent the group from ever regenerating in Iraq and Syria, according to the statement.

Furthermore, the Americans hailed the Baghdad II meeting, which took place in Amman, Jordan last month, and applauded recent developments in the negotiations to settle issues between the Government of Iraq and the Kurdistan Regional Government on revenue sharing and energy exports.
