 FIFA President congratulates Iraq for winning 25th Gulf Cup

FIFA President Gianni Infantino with Adnan Dirjal, President of the Iraq Football Association and Ahmed Al-Mubarqa, the Minster of Youth and Sports.

Basra (IraqiNews.com) – FIFA President Gianni Infantino congratulated Iraq for winning the 25th Gulf Cup that was held in Basra, Iraq.

The FIFA boss posted on his Instagram page showcasing Iraq’s winning ceremony. Infantino said in his Instagram post: “Congratulations to Iraq for ending the Arabian Gulf Cup 2023 as winners, and also to Oman, for making the final and putting up a great match.”

Infantino added: “It was my privilege to be there for the opening game of the tournament which was hosted in Iraq after 43 years. May Iraq’s success bring great joy to the players, the Iraqi Football Association and the whole footballing community there.”

Infantino attended the opening ceremony at the Basra International Stadium that took place January 6, 2023. The FIFA President was greeted at opening match by Iraq’s Prime Minister, Mohammed Shia’ Al Sudani, the President of the Iraq Football Association, Adnan Dirjal, and the Minister of Youth and Sports, Ahmed Al-Mubarqa.
