Gunmen detained for attacking police checkpoint in Tikrit

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Policemen arrested on Friday the gunmen who attacked a police checkpoint in west of Tikrit, a media source said. “Security authorities arrested four persons today in al-Aouja region, south of Tikrit, involved in implementing an attack on a police checkpoint,” Colonel Hatem Ekram told IraqiNews.com news agency. “The death toll rose two dead and three wounded,” he explained, noting that the police seized weapons and ammunitions in their possession. A police source had said earlier that unknown gunmen attacked a police checkpoint in al-Bu Ubeid region, west of Tikrit, killing a policeman and injuring four.
