4 civilians wounded in blast near Baghdad

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Four civilians were wounded in a blast from an improvised explosive device south of Baghdad city on Sunday, according to a local police source. “A roadside IED went off in the area of al-Latifiya, south of Baghdad, leaving four civilians wounded,” the source told IraqiNews.com news agency. The blast is the fourth to take place in and outside Baghdad on Sunday. Two civilians had been wounded when an IED went off in al-Kamaliya, eastern Baghdad. Earlier, a security source said a civilian man was killed and five others wounded when a car rigged with explosives went off in Baghdad. Also, a civilian man was killed and two others wounded when an improvised explosive device attached to his vehicle went off in southern Baghdad. The mounting acts of violence took place as the government formation crisis is still going on amidst differences flaring up among the three top political blocs over the prime minister post. They also come five days after U.S. combat troops withdrew from Iraq while 50,000 still remain in the war-troubled oil-rich country for consultancy and training purposes. AmR (S) 1
