Iraqi PM confirms 2023 budget to be presented to Parliament soon
Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Iraqi Prime Minister, Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani, confirmed, during the State Administration Coalition meeting, that the draft budget will be presented to the Parliament soon, the Iraqi News Agency (INA) mentioned.
A statement issued by the State Administration Coalition mentioned that a meeting was held on Monday where the attendees included Al-Sudani and the Speaker of Parliament, Muhammad Al-Halbousi.
The statement elaborated that the meeting addressed the report of the delegation, headed by Minister of Foreign Affairs Fuad Hussein, which recently visited Washington.
The meeting also addressed the mechanisms for activating the strategic framework agreement between Iraq and Washington in a way that serves the interest of both countries, the statement elaborated.
Al-Sudani announced that great progress has been achieved in completing the draft federal budget law, and it will be presented to the Parliament to be put to the vote, according to the statement.
On Monday, the First Deputy Speaker of the Parliament, Mohsen Al-Mandalawi, confirmed that the draft federal budget law will be presented to the Parliament next week.
In a statement cited by INA, Al-Mandalawi said that the general budget bill will be presented to the Parliament early next week, following a phone call he made with the Minister of Finance, Taif Sami.
Al-Mandalawi stressed the importance of the budget bill coming soon to the parliament, and discussing its items and make the necessary amendments by the Finance Committee, to guarantee the proper application of the government approach, especially supporting the poor classes.
