Iraq to secure Japan’s energy sources, says oil minister

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Iraq will play an important role to secure the energy sources Japan needs to implement industrial and investment projects, oil minister said on Wednesday. This came during a meeting between Minister Hussein al-Shahrestani and a Japanese diplomat in Baghdad. “Japan is interested in Iraqi energy sources to carry out its investment and industrial projects,” said a ministerial statement quoting al-Shahrestani as saying. “Iraq will secure Japan’s needs from oil and liquefied gas,” he added., noting that Japan will help Iraq in developing some oilfields to support the oil industry in the country.
