Iraqi FM discusses cooperation with the European Parliament
Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Iraqi Minister of Foreign Affairs, Fuad Hussein, discussed on Wednesday ways to continue cooperation and to strengthen the relations with the European Union in various areas, during a meeting with the European Parliament delegation for relations with Iraq, in Baghdad, according to a statement issued by the Iraqi Foreign Ministry.
During the meeting, Hussein reviewed the political situation in Iraq, the Iraqi government’s policy and its integrated program to provide services, and the elimination of the remnants of ISIS terrorist group, the statement mentioned.
Both sides talked about the upcoming visit of Hussein to Brussels in mid-March to find solutions to issues related to the European Union, the statement revealed.
The Iraqi delegation will include members from the various relevant sectors, and they are expected to attend meetings of the Foreign Affairs Council of the European Union, the statement explained.
The Minister stressed the need for cooperation between the Iraqi Parliament and the European Parliament, as well as the need to strengthen cooperation between both sides.
The meeting addressed the need to find a solution to the quotas of water shared with neighboring countries, the statement elaborated.
Both sides also discussed lifting the European embargo imposed on Iraqi Airways, and the required steps to resume flights to the countries of the European Union, to enhance the economic relations between the European Union and Iraq, the statement added.
The European delegation expressed willingness to cooperate and discusses different issues during the Iraqi delegation’s visit to Brussels.
