Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Japanese government provided on Wednesday a financial grant of 90 thousand USD to Iraq to support Al-Qaim Hospital, the state news agency (INA) reported.

The Chargé d’Affairs of the Japanese Embassy in Iraq, Masamoto Kenichi, confirmed that this is part of the cooperation to support the liberated areas from the terrorist group of ISIS.

A ceremony was held to sign the documents of the grant provided by the Japanese Grant Assistance for Grass-Roots Human Security Project to supply Al-Qaim General Hospital in Anbar governorate with medical equipment, INA mentioned.

The documents of the grant were signed by Kenichi and the President of the United Iraqi Medical Society for Relief and Development, Ahmad Al-Heety.

This step will improve the medical environment in the city of Al-Qaim and its surrounding areas after liberation from ISIS groups.

The Japanese government implemented more than 100 projects of this kind since 2003 throughout Iraq, in various fields, including health care, education, poverty, public welfare, and removal of mine and unexploded ordnance, INA illustrated.

“We signed a new grant to provide medical equipment for Al-Qaim Hospital in Anbar governorate,” Kenichi said.

“Japan is working with the international community and actors, including Japanese and Iraqi civil society, for a better life for the Iraqi people,” Kenichi explained.

“This project is part of our cooperation with the areas liberated from ISIS groups, and we know that the hospital is the only one in the Al-Qaim area that provides specialized services for children,” Kenichi added.
