Iraqi FM meets with European FMs in Brussels
Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Iraqi Minister of Foreign Affairs, Fuad Hussein, arrived on Sunday in the Belgian capital, Brussels, on a three-day official visit.
The visit of Hussein and his accompanying delegation is part of their participation in the third session of the Cooperation Council between Iraq and the European Union, the Iraqi News Agency (INA) mentioned.
Hussein will hold a meeting with all 27 European Union foreign ministers, INA reported.
Hussein will also hold bilateral meetings, including a meeting with the European Union High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, and the Secretary General of NATO, Jens Stoltenberg, INA added.
The Iraqi minister is expected to review the vision of the new Iraqi government in terms of the political, security and economic conditions, in addition to the energy issue.
Hussein stated earlier that his country was serious about strengthening ties with Europe, and in discussing the illegal immigration issue.
Hussein also mentioned that Baghdad is willing to enhance cooperation with Europe, especially in the fields of energy, trade, banking, transportation, immigration and the status of Iraqis in the European Union.
