Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – Iraq condemned the statements of the Israeli Minister of Finance regarding the Palestinian people, the Iraqi News Agency (INA) reported.

The spokesperson of the Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ahmed Al-Sahhaf, mentioned in a statement that Iraq expresses its condemnation of the statements of the Israeli Minister of Finance, Bezalel Smotrich, in which he denied the existence of the Palestinian people.

An Israeli minister with responsibility for administrating the occupied West Bank drew condemnation on Monday after he said there was no Palestinian history or culture and no such thing as a Palestinian people, Reuters mentioned.

Iraq also condemns Smotrich’s use of a map of Israel that includes sovereign Jordanian territory and the occupied Palestinian territories, Al-Sahhaf explained.

“We emphasize Iraq’s rejection of the incitement speech and all practices that contradict the human and moral rights of the Palestinian people,” the Iraqi official elaborated.

“As we call for the need to contain these developments which carry serious repercussions, Iraq renews its firm and supportive stance for the Palestinian people, and their rights, which will not be lost,” Al-Sahhaf illustrated.

The Foreign Ministry’s spokesperson indicated that the systematic violence used by the usurping entity, Israel, increases tension, and will lead to growing escalation and aggravation, without reaching any solution.
