2 wanted persons nabbed near Kirkuk

KIRKUK / IraqiNews.com: A combined force from the Iraqi army and police arrested two wanted persons while an improvised explosive device went off with no casualties in two separate incidents southwest of Kirkuk on Friday, a security official said. “Intelligence tip-offs led a combined force from the Iraqi army and the Kirkuk Districts Police Department to arrested two wanted persons in the village of Khirbat Aziz, al-Riad district, (45 km) southwest of Kirkuk,” Brig. Sarhad Qader, the KDPD director, told IraqiNews.com news agency. “The two are suspected of involvement in several armed operations against civilians and security personnel,” Qader added. Meanwhile, a source in the Kirkuk-based Joint Coordination Center (JCC) told IraqiNews.com that an IED went off near a factory in al-Huweija district, (65 km) southwest of Kirkuk, during drilling works but caused no casualties. The oil-rich Kirkuk, a city of mixed Arab, Kurdish and Turkmen population, lies 250 km northeast of the Iraqi capital Baghdad. AmR (P) 1
