U.S. army patrol comes under attack in Mosul

NINEWA / IraqiNews.com: A U.S. army patrol came under a hand-grenade attack in Mosul city on Sunday, a Ninewa police source said. “The U.S. patrol soldiers opened fire on the armed man, who hurled the grenade on the patrol and escaped, leaving no casualties or losses,” the source told IraqiNews.com news agency. U.S. combat troops had withdrawn from Iraq at the end of August in accordance with the status of forces agreement (SOFA) signed between Baghdad and Washington at the end of 2008. The remaining 50,000 U.S. troops are scheduled to leave the country by the end of next year. Mosul, the capital of city of the troubled province of Ninewa, lies 405 km north of Baghdad. SKH (P)/AmR 1
