Mosul authorities detain gunman with grenades

NINEWA / IraqiNews.com: The National Investigations Office of Ninewa detained a gunman with hand-grenades in his possession in central Mosul city on Sunday, a security source said. “The gunman was arrested today (Nov. 21) in al-Kornich area in central Mosul with five hand-grenades in his possession,” the source told IraqiNews.com news agency. “The gunman confessed during initial investigations with him to having participated in armed attacks against Iraqi forces in the areas of al-Kornich and Bab al-Toub, central Mosul, making use of the traffic congestion there,” he added. The source did not give further details. Mosul, the capital city of the volatile province of Ninewa, lies 405 km north of Baghdad. AmR (P) 2
