 Iraqi PM discusses cooperation with the US

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Iraqi Prime Minister, Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani, stressed the importance of strengthening the cooperation between Iraq and the United States of America, according to a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s press office.

The statement mentioned that Al-Sudani received on Monday Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs, Barbara Leaf, and her accompanying delegation.

The meeting addressed the bilateral relations between the two countries as well as regional and international issues of common interest, the statement illustrated.

Al-Sudani stressed the importance of strengthening paths of cooperation between Iraq and the United States of America, and ways to develop these relations within the strategic framework agreement, particularly in industrial, trade and education sectors, the statement revealed.

The Iraqi Prime Minister indicated the government’s work priorities in terms of programs and plans that contribute to achieving economic development, especially in the energy sector, the statement clarified.

Leaf praised the developed relationship between the two countries, stressing that her country is looking forward to strengthening the relationship with Iraq, because of its pivotal role in the region, the statement added.
