Italian Consulate to open in Iraqi Kurdistan

ARBIL / IraqiNews.com: The president of north Iraq’s Kurdistan Region, Massoud Barzani has agreed with the Italian Foreign Minister in Rome on Monday to open an Italian consulate in the region, the chairman of Kurdistan Presidency’s office, said on Tuesday. Fuad Hussein told IraqiNews.com that “relations between Kurdistan Region and Italy have reached a very progressive phase, as a result of the meeting held in Rome on Monday between President Barzani and the Italian Foreign Minister, including the opening of an Italian consulate in Kurdistan. Kurdistan Region’s President Barzani began a visit to Italy on Sept. 29th, where he attended the Conference of Democrats Alliance. He concluded his visit on Monday and has since returned to Kurdistan. SKH/SR 1
