Egyptian Consulate to open in Arbil officially next month

ARBIL / IraqiNews.com: An Egyptian Consulate shall be officially opened in Arbil, the center of north Iraq’s Kurdistan Region next month, according to the Egyptian Ambassador to Baghdad, Sherif Shahin, on Tuesday. Ambassador Shahin said that his country will strive to develop its trade and economic relations with the Kurdistan Region. “With God’s will, we shall officially open our consulate in Arbil next January. Our present consulate is acting under the Consul Sulaiman Othman, who is an efficient diplomat, to act with all executive leaderships, economic and cultural activities in the Region,” Ambassador Shahin told IraqiNews.com news agency on Tuesday. Ambassador Shahin is attending the 13th Conference of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP), currently taking place in Arbil. “We are open towards the Kurds in all fields that the Kurdish side wishes to cooperate with us. We have joint a interest and strong will to cooperate, hoping that our efforts will achieve success and that we manage to interpret such hopes and will into reality,” he said. On his part, the Chairman of Arbil‘s Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Dara Jalal Khayat, expressed hope that “Egypt’s efforts to develop its trade and economic relations with Kurdistan Region, would be successful.” SKH/SR 27
