Georgia to open embassy in Baghdad

ARBIL / IraqiNews.com: Georgian Ambassador to Iraq said on Wednesday that his country would opened its embassy in Baghdad and would send consuls to central and southern Iraq. Ambassador Zurab Erstavi wrapped up visit to Kurdistan after holding a meeting with President Massoud Barzani and Speaker of the parliament, Kamal Karkouki. “The Georgian government will reopen its ambassador in Baghdad and appointed consul in Arbil,” he said. “The next stage will witness appointing new consuls in central and southern Iraq,” he added. The meeting tackled consolidating political, cultural and economic relations between Kurdistan region and Georgia, as well as sending Georgian investors to participate in constructing Kurdistan region.
