Hakim pledges support of PM Maliki’s govt.

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: The Chairman of the Supreme Iraqi Islamic Council (SIIC), Ammar al-Hakim, has promised to render full support for the new government, led by Prime Minister, Nouri al-Maliki. “The SIIC shall render full support for the forthcoming government, in order to achieve success for the political process,” Hakim said in a speech in central Baghdad’s Khullani Square on Thursday, on occasion of the martyrdom of Imam Hussein Bin-Ali. He reiterated his “full support for Nouri al-Maliki’s government, in order to achieve prosperity for the people of Iraq.” Iraq‘s Shiite Muslims are celebrating today (Thursday) the anniversary of the martyrdom of Imam Hussein’s Bin-Ali, the Third Imam of the Shiites, in Karbala city in the Hijri Year 61. The said support by Hakim is taking place while different Iraqi poliltical blocs are selecting their candidates for leading government posts, including vice-presidents and deputy-prime ministers and other cabinet ministers.
