Kurdish film to participate in Rome festival

ARBIL / IraqiNews.com: The Kurdish movie Flowers of Kirkuk will participate in the Rome International Film Festival, scheduled to be held late this month, according to the producers on Saturday. “The film, directed by Iranian Kurdish filmmaker Fariborz Kamkari, is a joint Italian-Swiss production that will be screened in the 5th Rome International Film Festival on October 28-November 5,” according to Kurdish film producer Fikri Barouzi. “The movie, the largest Italian production ever this year outside Italy, tells the love story of a girl and a Kurdish young man during the Anfal Campaign perpetrated by the former dictatorial regime against the Kurds in Iraq during the 1980s,” he said. The former Iraqi regime launched a series of campaigns codenamed Anfal during the early 1980s, which resulted in the death of thousands of Kurds, most of them were buried in mass graves all over Iraq.
