Iraqi Kurdistan’s Capital, Arbil, witness huge fire works on occasion of Nowruz Day

ARBIL / IraqiNews.com – Arbil, the capital of north Iraq ’s Kurdistan Region, had witnessed on Sunday night a huge celebration, including fireworks that lighted the skies of the city, on the occasion of Nowruz Day and the beginning of the new Kurdish year.   The occasion, according to IraqiNews.com correspondent in Arbil, had witnessed the attendance of singers from different parts of Kurdistan Regions in Iraq , Turkey and Iran , who sang on the occasion, attended by Arbil’s Governor, Nowzad Hadi, representatives of Kurdistan Parties and Parliament, along with thousands of citizens.     The Kurds in all world countries celebrate the 21st of March, being the Nowruz Day, they consider their National Day.   In Iraqi Kurdistan, Nowruz Day is considered an official occasion, where all government and civilian offices enjoy 4 days-off, and the Torch is lighted in all Kurdish cities, for the torch called “The Torch of Kawa, the Blacksmith.”   Nowruz Day is the first day in the Kurdish new year, starting on March 21, and the word means “The New Day,” being the first day of the new Kurdish Year, 2709.   Nowruz is an ancient day, celebrated by Kurds, Persians and Azaris, being the day that witnesses the natural change in the climate and the entrance in the first spring month, being the month of fertility, renewal of life in the culture of many Asian peoples.   As for the Kurds, it is considered a national occasion, linked to the cause of liberation from oppression, according to the saying that points out that lighting fire had been a symbol for victory and end of oppression, that had been imposed by one of the oppressive rulers.   RT / SKH
