Clash between opposition – Kurdistan Parliament MPs

ARBIL / IraqiNews.com: A hand clash took place on Tuesday between Members of north Iraq ’s Kurdistan Parliament, representing both Kurdistan Opposition and the Kurdistan Coalition, during their voting on Tuesday to renew Kurdistan Interior Minister’s assignment.   “The Kurdistan Parliament’s session, that invited Kurdistan ’s Interior Minister, Karim Sinjary, to discuss the incidents that took place in Sulaimaniya city on February 17, had witnessed hand clashes between the MPs of the opposition, who rejected the renewal of the Minister’s assignment and the Kurdistan Coalition MPs,” IraqiNews.com correspondent, who attended the session, reported.   He said that the opposition MPs began the session with beating on their desks, followed by a state of anarchy in the Parliament hall, after the majority vote to renew the Interior Minister’s assignment, whilst a hand clash took place between both sides.   An opposition Legislature told IraqiNews.com that one of the opposition MPs threw a water bottle on the Kurdistan Parliament’s Speaker, Kamal Kirkuky, who decided to sue the attacker.   The Kurdistan Parliament had invited Kurdistan’s Interior Minister, Karim Sinjary, to discuss the Feb. 17 th incidents that took place in Sulaimaniya Province , which killed and injured a number of demonstrators.   The incident had caused a political crisis between the leadership of the opposition’s Goran (Change) Movement and the two ruling parties in Kurdistan , the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) and the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), led by Kurdistan President Massoud Barzani and Iraqi President Jalal Talabani.   Arbil, the capital of north Iraq ’s Kurdistan Region, is 364 km to the north of the Iraqi capital of Baghdad .   SKH (TR)   616
