Barzani inspects flood-damaged houses in Arbil

ARBIL / IraqiNews.com: Iraqi Kurdistan Region President Massoud Barzani on Saturday toured the houses that were struck by recent torrential rains during the past two days in the province of Arbil. Barzani, who was accompanied in his tour by the Arbil governor, parliament members and ministers in the semi-autonomous region, said an ad hoc committee will be formed by the ministry of municipalities with the aim of offering compensations for the flood-stricken residents. The governor of Arbil, Nawzad Hadi, had told IraqiNews.com news agency that Arbil was the worst harmed by torrential rains compared to other provinces. “Scores of houses and stores were severely damaged, let alone a number of projects in mountainous spots in Jouman,” he said.   AmR (TP)/SR 486
