 Turkey discusses increasing trade exchange with Iraq

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Iraqi Minister of Planning, Muhammad Ali Tamim, discussed on Tuesday increasing the volume of trade exchange between Iraq and Turkey with the Turkish Minister of Trade, Omer Polat.

Polat was accompanied by a delegation including Turkish officials and businessmen, according to a statement issued by the Iraqi Planning Ministry.

Both officials discussed issues related to the development of bilateral relations between the two countries in the economic, investment, and trade fields.

The two ministers stressed their eagerness to enhance joint cooperation to develop the investment environment in Iraq and increase the volume of trade exchange between Iraq and Turkey.

In a related development, the Iraqi Ministry of Trade announced on Tuesday that it agreed with the Turkish side to activate joint committees and agreements signed between both countries, overcome obstacles, increase the volume of trade exchange, and promote joint investments.

The Trade Ministry mentioned in a statement that discussions took place on Tuesday between Iraqi and Turkish officials, including Polat and the Iraqi Minister of Trade, Atheer Al-Ghurairy.

Al-Ghurairy highlighted the importance of the participation of Turkish companies in investment projects in the industrial sector and other sectors in the Iraqi market, which develop relations and raise the volume of trade exchange in line with the government’s directions.
