Kudistan allocates US $3 million as first advance for elections
ARBIL / IraqiNews.com: North Iraq Kurdistan Region’s government has allocated US$3 millions, as first advance to prepare for the elections, scheduled to take place in the Region’s provinces soon, the Chairman of the High Independent Elections Commission, Faraj al-Haidary, said on Tuesday. “The Government of Kurdistan Region has agreed to allocate a U.S. $3 millions, as the first advance, to prepare for the elections of the Region’s provinces,” Haidary told IraqiNews.com news agency, pointing out that the forthcoming few days shall witness the modernization of the records of the said provinces in Arbil city. “Our Commission is waiting for the adjustment of the special law on the elections of the Region’s provinces, whether to follow the closed list or the open list procedure,” he said. Kurdistan Region’s Council of Ministers had decided on Monday to grant the High Independent Elections Commission a financial advance to prepare for the elections of the Region’s elections.
