Iraqi Kurdistan’s Parliament holds session to discuss Turkish bombardment
ARBIL / IraqiNews.com: The Parliament or north Iraq ’s Kurdistan Region has held a special session on Thursday to discuss the Turkish bombardment of the Region’s border areas, a media source reported. “The Kurdistan Region’s Parliament held a special session today (Thursday) to discuss the Turkish bombardment on Kurdistan villages and areas close to the Turkish Republic,” the source told IraqiNews.com news agency, adding that the session was held under chairmanship of the Kurdistan Parliament’s Speaker, Kamal Karkuki and attendance of the majority of the Parliament’s members. “It is hoped that the session would issue a statement or position by the Parliament on the current conditions in Kurdistan areas, close to Turkey,” he said. Noteworthy is that several areas of Kurdistan Region’s Provinces of Arbil and Dohuk are witnessing intensive Turkish bombardment against positions, described by the Turkish Army as possible sites of the anti-Ankara Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK), who launched attacks against Turkish troops, killing and wounding about 30 Turkish soldiers.
