Barzani orders sending defendants of attacks against demonstrators for justice

ARBIL / IraqiNews.com: The President of North Iraq’s Kurdistan Region, Massoud Barzani, has ordered sending to justice of all persons, behind attacking demonstrators on February 27 th last, a statement by Barzani’s office reported on Saturday.   Mass demonstrators took place in northern Iraq’s Sulaimaniya, Kalar, Halabja, Rania, Koy-Sanjaq and other Kurdish areas, during which 8 persons were killed and more than 100 others were injured on Feb. 17 th last, with Barzani, Iraqi President Jalal Talabani and Kurdistan Premier Barham Saleh, had expressed support for the demands of the demonstrators.   “Barzani’s decision covered sending all defendants for the said incidents for justice, along with ceasing the chasing of anybody without legal decisions, as well as the allocation of financial support for the Kurdish opposition parties and the formation of a committee to settle the problems of the opposition parties and to stop chasing the activists of the Civil Society and the opposition supporters, who faced political punishments.   SKH (IT) 581
