Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Iraqi General Authority for Meteorology and Seismic Monitoring revealed on Monday that three earthquakes struck the governorates of Duhok and Kirkuk in central and northern Iraq.

An earthquake measuring 4.7 degrees on the Richter scale struck 20 kilometers northeast of Tuz Khurmatu in Kirkuk.

A magnitude 3.1 earthquake and a magnitude 4.6 earthquake both occurred, respectively, near the Iraqi-Turkish border, 44 km northeast of Duhok’s center.

The Iraqi authorities have not reported any deaths or damages so far.

These earthquakes came two days after a devastating earthquake measuring 6.8 degrees on the Richter scale struck Morocco on Friday night.

The 6.8-magnitude earthquake shook Morocco’s High Atlas mountain range shortly after 11 p.m. local time on Friday.

Morocco’s earthquake claimed the lives of more than 2,000 people and left 1,404 others in critical condition, according to the Moroccan Interior Minister.

Three months ago, Duhok governorate was struck by a 4.7-magnitude earthquake, which was felt by people in Duhok and Mosul.
