295 Christian families fled Mosul – source

NINEWA / IraqiNews.com: Some 295 Christian families fled the city of Mosul during the past three days, a media source from the Assyrian Democratic Movement in Ninewa said on Friday. “Two-hundred and ninety-five Christian families fled Mosul during the past three days due to threats they received from gunmen,” the source told IraqiNews.com. “They headed to areas on the peripheries of the city,” he said. “A total 140 families fled Mosul to Telkeef suburb, 120 other families headed to al-Hamdaniya suburb and 35 to Der Mar Bahnam in al-Namrod,” he added. For his part, Bacim Balo, the mayor of Telkeef, confirmed that 140 Christian families came to the suburb from Mosul due to fear for their lives. Mosul, the capital city of Ninewa province, lies 405 km north of Baghdad.   MH (P)/AmR 1
