Kurdistan Region receives 152,000 tourists during Eid al-Fitr Holidays

ARBIL / IraqiNews.com: Northern Iraq’s Kurdistan Region had received about 152,000 tourists during Eid al-Fitr Holidays that continued for one-weak and ended on Sunday, the Chairman of Kurdistan’s Tourist Commission reported.   “152,000 tourists have visited Kurdistan Region during Eid al-Fitr Holidays, including 143,000 from different Iraqi provinces, whilst the remaining 9,000 came from Iran and Turkey,” Mowlawi Jabbar told IraqiNews.com news agency.   Jabbar said that 99,000 tourists had visited Arbil, the capital of Iraqi Kurdistan, whilst 27,000 visited its Sulaimaniya Province and 26,000 visited Dohuk Province.   He said that due to the limited hotel rooms to receive tourists in Kurdistan Region, large numbers of them were forced to spend the nights in parks or houses of relatives and friends in the three provinces, whilst the tourists complained from the high level of prices in the tourist areas, restaurants and welfare centers, compared with other Iraqi provinces.   SKH (TI) 365
