 Germany confirms Siemens work in Iraq to be completed by due date

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Iraqi Prime Minister, Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani, confirmed on Tuesday that the relationship between Iraq and Germany has grown significantly.

Al-Sudani met with the German Chancellor, Olaf Scholz, on the sidelines of his attendance at the meetings of the United Nations General Assembly’s 78th edition held in New York, according to a statement released by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).

The Iraqi Prime Minister confirmed that the action plan that the two parties agreed upon during the Iraqi Prime Minister’s visit to Berlin in January has made progress.

Ai-Sudani emphasized that the contracts Iraq inked with Siemens Energy in January are being implemented with progress. He also underlined Iraq’s readiness to foster cooperation in the area of clean and renewable energies.

The Iraqi Prime Minister extended an invitation to the German Chancellor to participate in the Baghdad Conference for Cooperation and Partnership, scheduled to take place in the Iraqi capital at the end of 2023.

Scholz stressed the German government’s keenness to complete the action plan both parties agreed upon, increase the activity of German enterprises in Iraq, and complete the work by the due date.

The German Chancellor also indicated Germany’s willingness to share its knowledge in the energy field with Iraq, particularly in regards to the use of associated gas.

Scholz commended Al-Sudani’s policies, the remarkable progress it made, and the stability attained in the country. He added that the German Minister of Economic Affairs will visit Iraq soon and expressed his wish to do so as well.
