Iraqi legislature escapes assassination attempt

BABEL / IraqiNews.com: The Iraqi Legislature from al-Ahrar (Liberals) bloc, Jawad al-Jiboury, has escaped an assassination attempt in Musayab township of western Iraq’s Babel Province, a security source said.   “An explosive charge blew up targeting the motorcade of the legislature from al-Ahrar (Liberals) bloc, Jawad al-Jiboury, when passing through Musayab township, 45 km to the north of Hilla, the center of Babel Province,” the security source said.   He said the attack did not cause any casualties, but some material damage to Jiboury’s car.   “A unit for dismantling explosive charges headed towards the venue of the blast, where it found another charge, that blew off while its dismantling, wounding an officer, two of his assistants and a civilian,” the source added.   Hilla, the center of Babel Province, is 100 km to south of Baghdad.   SKH (TS)/SR 592
