Two candidates nominated by National Coaltion for Interior Minister’s post:

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Iraq‘s National Coalition has nominated Shirwan al-Waely and Adnan Al-Assadi, for the post of Iraq‘s new Interior Minister, the Coalition’s Legislature, Zainab Wahid Salman, said on Monday. “The Security ministries necessitates agreement by the parliamentary blocs, thing that did take place by the National Coalition, share of whom will be the Interior Minister‘s post,” she said, adding that her Coalition had nominated Shirwan al-Waely and Adnan al-Assadi for the Interior Minister‘s post. Salman said that there still remained several ministerial posts that were not settled till now, including the defense minister’s post, for which al-Iraqiya Coalition had named its candidate for, pointing out to the existence of several commissions and institutions that would be settled in the nearest possible time, including the Haj (Pilgrimage) Commission and the Political Prisoners Institution. The Iraqi Parliament had granted its approval on 12/12/2010 to the new Iraqi government, led by Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki, following severe discussions that continued for about 9 months, that followed Iraq‘s nationwide parliamentary elections that took place on March 7th last. The Chairman of the State of Law Coalition, led by Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki, had presented members of the new cabinet to the Parliament to gain its trust, including 41 cabinet posts, among them 12 state ministers, whilst he kept the administrations of the Interior, Defense and Security Ministers posts for himself, on “acting” basis. Maliki had also assigned several state ministers posts on “acting” basis, pending the naming of their original ministers, amidst a continued competition among different political blocs towards the nomination of new cabinet ministers and broad criticims for the absence of women in the new cabinet that included only one woman.
