Protestors head to GZ to stage sit-in

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Scores of protestors, gathered on Friday in al-Tahrir square, headed to the Green Zone, where the Iraqi government offices, the parliament, foreign diplomatic missions, including the U.S. and British embassies lie, to stage a sit-in. The demonstrators are demanding better social services, stable food prices, and investigations into corruption cases. “Most of the protestors are active in facebook and twitter websites and this is the last warning to the government after 8 years of corruption and bad services,” Laila Mohammad, an employee, who joined the demonstration, told IraqiNews.com news agency. “In case our demands are not fulfilled, a million-person demonstration will be staged on Feb. 25 like those staged in Tunisia and Egypt,” she added.
